Regional bonuses for construction and renovation in Belgium (2025)

New temporary bonus scheme (from February 14, 2025)
Wallonia
Since February 14, 2025, Wallonia has implemented a new temporary support scheme for renovation grants. This reform aims to better target financial aid and ensure more efficient use of public funds. It applies retroactively from February 14, 2025, and will remain in effect until a comprehensive reform is implemented, scheduled for October 2026.
The grants cover several types of work, including a housing audit (mandatory except for roofing and thermal insulation work). Also covered are work such as roof replacement, roof frame repair, rainwater drainage, and wall drying.
However, the basic amounts of the premiums have been reduced by an average of 60%. The ceiling for coverage is now set at 70% of the total cost of the work for income categories R1 and R2, and at 50% for R3 and R4. Households with an income exceeding €114,000 (after deduction per child) are no longer eligible.
In addition, simplified bonuses for small works without audits and those relating to heating have been removed. All applications must now be made via the Mon Espace Wallonie platform.
The comprehensive reform announced for the end of 2026 will take place in three distinct phases, in order to facilitate the transition for citizens and professionals.

Flanders
From 1 July 2025, Flanders will introduce a new reform of renovation subsidies. This will refocus subsidies solely on work related to energy renovation, excluding interior improvements not related to energy efficiency.
The new system will introduce four income groups, with premium rates of up to 50% for the lowest-income households. The aim is to focus support on households that need it most.
